1981 Topps #541 Steve Swisher
Steven Eugene Swisher was born on August 9, 1951 in Parkersburg, West Virginia. The Cardinals acquired Steve in a trade with the Chicago Cubs on December 8, 1977. As a Cardinal, Swisher was a backup catcher who never hit over .280. He wasn't much of a run producer either, collecting only 15 RBI and 17 R in three seasons with the Cardinals. We're certain Steve's proud that his son Nick is having a little more success as a Major Leaguer than he did.
Always nice to see a WV guy. For whatever reason Parkersburg has been a good sports town over the years. Must be something in the water.
